About
Founder: Ricky Dean Hiatt PE, CEM, LEED AP
RDH is a boutique engineering firm first brought to life by Ricky Dean Hiatt. After graduating from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a mechanical engineering degree, Ricky worked as a design engineer absorbing knowledge from the more experienced engineers. With suitable experience under his belt, an opportunity arose to work a project as an independent contractor. He knew how to engineer the system and how to show it on construction documents, but didn't have the supplies or technical drafting skills needed to complete the job. Regardless, he accepted the job and purchased a computer and hired a drafter and began his journey into business ownership. Years later, Ricky is the owner of a growing MEP engineering firm focused on creating an enjoyable work-life balance that cultivates reliable, sustainable, and economical engineering designs.

Sustainable Design
Energy, impossible to see and always changing. Understanding how it's used in the built environment is critical for many applications such as energy purchase agreements, government incentives, and far more. We can thoroughly explain the energy behaviors of your building and the equipment associated for whatever your needs may be.
There are many factors that apply to the development of construction documents. Years of lessons learned has crafted the art of conveying information to the contractors. Our experience and a combination of thoughtfully drafted documents, responsive engineers, and several site visits will ensure your project will run smoothly from concept to occupied.
RDH is at its core a company that strives to promote the design of buildings that are healthy for the occupants and the environment. Our engineers integrate sustainable design principles in all areas of design. For projects seeking to showcase their commitment to going green through LEED, Living Future, or WELL Building Certifications, our accredited professionals and engineers can help make sure that journey is as smooth as possible.

Large projects means large engineering firms, right? Wrong. RDH is comprised of a team of mechanical engineers that is the same as those found in large engineering firms. The difference that RDH has to offer is the flexibility of having top management on every single project and empowering the entire team to be in a leadership position. What we don't have is the top-heavy management whose salary increases the baseline engineering fee without the involvement in the project.
